Tuesday's Tip: What are your favorite Connecticut research tips?

I'm turning today's post over to you all. What are your favorite tips for researching in Connecticut?

I'll give you one or two to get started:
1) Check out the Connecticut State Library website. I couldn't survive without the unique place names list.
2) Public libraries are the best! Many know more about the town than you'd ever imagine.

  1. Local libraries often have genealogical collections with a wealth of details about area families. For example, the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown has a genealogy room packed with books, periodicals, and indexes (to local gravestones, for instance). Plus friendly librarians :)

  2. I like the Silas Bronson Library , 267 Grand Street, Waterbury, CT.
I have found lots of information about my Coyle family in the city directories. I'd like to get back there this summer to do more research.
